Say what you will about Lady Gaga and the controversy over her Alejandro video, she has single-handedly brought back the event video. We wait. We watch. We talk. We love. We hate. It’s entertainment at it’s best. This video has so many nods to so many greats… ABBA, Cabaret, Bob Fosse, Liza Minnelli, Madonna’s Like a Prayer, Janet’s Rhythm Nation, but all with Lady Gaga’s own unique sense of, “I am what I wear,” and her commitment to fashion and lifestyle as art. Steven Klein’s direction is nothing if not gorgeous and compelling. Gaga has said of the video in various interviews,” It’s a celebration and an admiration of gay love—it confesses my envy of the courage and bravery they require to be together. In the video I’m pining for the love of my gay friends—but they just don’t want me to be with them.” And whether you think that swallowing an enormous set of rosary beads is an intake of the holy, as Klein does, or serious blasphemy as the Catholic League does, there is no denying it’s all very intriguing.

A lot of people might not like her, but I think Lady Gaga has a lot of talent. Just check out the Youtube video of her doing Poker Face with just the piano.
