This 1973 film is a documentary recreation of the 1971 Sylmar Earthquake in Los Angele’s San Fernando Valley, called the “Killer Quake” by local media outlets. Sixty-five people were killed when the minute-long earthquake rolled over the city and its suburbs at 6:02 a.m. The quake was the worst in Southern California since the Long Beach disaster of 1933.
