What does the cheapest man in Hollywood do for New Year’s Eve? Why he blows off his friends so he can go to a cool in-crowd Hollywood party of course! Jack Benny, a staple in the golden age of television, perfected the art of self-deprecation like no other. Widely recognized as one of the leading American entertainers of the 20th century, Benny was known for his comic timing and his ability to get laughs with either a pregnant pause or a single expression, such as his signature exasperated “Well!” In this 1954 holiday special Jack gets a good lesson in what friendship is all about. After leaving his buddies at the show for road kill, Jack attempts to get into the fast lane on New Year’s Eve and ends up crash landing on his couch with his main man Rodchester. They kick it old skool style and toast their progressive and diverse bond. Sometimes the coolest people are the ones who don’t get into the dance or the VIP room.
