Originally scheduled for release next spring, former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin’s memoir, “Going Rogue,” will be in bookstores by Nov. 17 – just in time for the lucrative holiday shopping season. Palin has told the Anchorage Daily News that she hopes her book will serve as an “unfiltered forum” as she has been troubled by “so many things written and said through mainstream media that have not been accurate.” Palin has not disclosed what she is being paid for her memoir, which is said to be about 400 pages in length, nor is it currently known how much of the book was written by the students of Gladys Woods Elementary School…

Eleventh Hour is a classic Superman cartoon from 1942 that owes more to contemporary wartime espionage films than to earlier sci-fi themed Superman cartoons. Set in Japan, at Yokohama Harbor, where Clark Kent and Lois Lane have been “interned” by the Japanese, Clark, as Superman, sneaks out to sabotage Japanese ships in the harbor. When the Japanese finally realize that Superman is responsible for the damage, they threaten Lois with execution Continue reading ‘Superman goes to war in Eleventh Hour!’

Medic was a groundbreaking television show that debuted in America in 1954 and ran for two years on NBC. Other television programs had taken place in hospitals before, but none had ever shown a realistic and medically accurate portrayal of disease and the people who fought to cure it. In this Special Episode of Medic, a babyfaced Dennis Hopper makes his television debut as a young Epileptic who faces ignorance and discrimination from townspeople who don’t understand the nature of his condition. Continue reading ‘Dennis Hopper in Medic Part 2!’
Mackenzie Phillips is hitting the airwaves to talk about her twisted life and pitch her new autobiography. Incest is a touchy subject, but we’d like to add to the national conversation with this presentation of the short film The Stain. Inspired by a news item about octogenarian twins who committed suicide, filmmakers Marjut Rimminen and Christine Roche imagined the possible reasons for this seemingly bizarre occurrence. The result is a film depicting a claustrophobic family atmosphere that provides a perfect breeding ground for dark secrets and unspoken events. Continue reading ‘Mackenzie and Papa John: The Stain.’

Blazing Saddles was a groundbreaking film when it was made in 1974- a dark and adult satire of the classic western with a career-defining performance by Cleavon Little as Bart, the all-black sheriff in the all-white town! It’s considered one of the best comedies ever made, but did you know that there was a sitcom pilot filmed the next year? “Black Bart” stars a young Louis Gossett, Jr. as the fish out of water sheriff with the horse named Whitey trying to get by in Paris, Arizona. With a Brady Bunch laugh track, frequent use of the words “nigger”, “spook” and “darkie”, and jokes about hanging a five year old boy and Belle the saloon keeper pulling a DP train with the entire Apache nation, it’s amazing this pilot didn’t get picked up for the Fall 1975 season!
