OJ Begins Prison Term

260xstory.jpgThe OJ Simpson saga came to a conclusion Tuesday as the former NFL star was transferred to the medium security prison at Indian Springs, High Desert State Prison to serve the sentence of nine to 33 years he received Friday for his participation in an armed robbery in Las Vegas in 2007.On the same day Simpson’s four accomplices went before Judge Glass who sentenced OJ and were dubbed the luckiest men in Vegas. They pled guilty to lesser charges and four of the men including the two who were armed the night of robbery cut plea deals and gave evidence against OJ. Michael McClinton and Walter Alexander were sentenced to four years probation. Charles Cashmore and Charles Ehrlich were sentenced to three years probation.  Simpson was found guilty of all 12 charges he faced in October over the incident which took place in September 2007. The high-profile case came 13 years to the day after he was cleared of the double murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman. The all-white jury in this case unanimously found that Simpson had recruited five other men to help him rob two sports memorabilia dealers at gunpoint in Las Vegas. Prosecutors had recommended the 61 year old serve at least 18 years. Simpson had been in custody since his conviction in October. Lawyers acting for Simpson claimed he had entered the hotel seeking to recover personal items stolen from his trophy room, and said he was unaware that his accomplices were armed.
