Ever been in a world consisting of pencil scribbles and violent, angry motorcyclists? Well, in A-Ha’s “Take on Me,” an unsuspecting girl in a cafe is reading a comic book about motorcycle racing (like most women do), when the winner of the race winks at her. He reaches for her and she reluctantly grabs his hand, which pulls her into his comic book realm. While he shows her his world, they are spotted and run down by two wrench-yielding, losing competitors our main man had beaten out in the earlier race. Will the two new lovers make it back out to reality? You’ll have to watch it until the end to find out.
This mid-1980′s song was a bomb at first, but soon was re-released only to become one of the top Billboard 100 hits in America. How could anyone not enjoy lead singer Morten Harket’s extremely high pitched wail? Every ultra-popular song has a video, and this particular video happened to win 6 MTV movie awards and is arguably one of the most memorable music videos of all time. Groundbreaking and truly innovative in the cinematic and music sense, this video is a part of history. One thing is for sure, A-Ha is the greatest thing to come out of Norway since herring.
