VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED. On April 7, 2007, in the town of Abril, Iraq, a 17 year-old girl was stoned to death for eloping with a man from a different religion. Doaa Aswad was a member of northern Iraq’s Yazidi religious sect who was murdered by her brothers and uncles after she converted to Islam to marry a man from another town. In this shocking video Aswad huddles in the road as men kick her and throw a large lump of concrete at her head.
Her face is drenched in blood but uniformed officers of the Iraqi police stand by and do nothing to prevent the attack. The young woman wears a red top and black underwear during the beating, and at one point struggles to sit up and cover herself, but a man kicks her in the face to knock her back to the ground. The assault continues for several minutes and she does not appear to cry out nor resist her attackers. Members of a large crowd can be seen filming the murder on their cellphones.No one attempts to help her.

He should have been forced to rot in jail, growing older, feebler, more infirm; a symbol of a toppled political ideal that had passed away into history. Instead, he was allowed to become a Martyr, a symbol of struggle against the West flying to Allah on the wings of doves. April 16 marks one year since the most deadly school shooting in United States history. It was a day the unthinkable happened– Seung-hui Cho, a student with psychological issues, armed himself with two semiautomatic weapons and carried out an attack on the campus of Virginia Tech University. The first shootings occurred in West Ambler Johnston Hall, claiming the lives of 19-year-old student Emily J. Hilscher and resident assistant Ryan C. Clark, 22.
Two hours later Cho appeared on the other side of the university inside Norris Hall, the engineering building, where he took the lives of another 30 students and faculty members before turning the gun on himself. The families of the victims received some closure yesterday when they agreed to an $11 million state settlement. The payout will compensate families who lost loved ones and pay the medical costs of some survivors. It also means a court battle will be avoided to determine if anyone other than Cho was responsible for the deaths. As the anniversary of this somber event approaches, join tomorrowpictures.tv in honoring the lives of those angels lost.
