Famed operatic tenor Luciano Pavarotti passed away this week at the age of 71. The beloved singer was given a massive funeral at the Duomo cathedral in his home town Modena, Italy. U2 singer Bono, film director Franco Zeffirelli, Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi and former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan were among the world illuminaries on hand for the sorrowful occasion. Pavarotti’s pupil, tenor Andrea Bocelli, sang Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus. Here, in a concert from 2003, is Pavarotti and good friend Bono performing Ave Maria. Rest in Peace Luciano.
