With the recent murder/suicide of WWE wrestler Chris Benoit and his family, the stunning series of deaths of relatively youthful professional wrestlers continues. Benoit, known as the ‘Candadian Crippler’, strangled his wife, suffocated his 7-year-old son and placed a Bible next to their bodies before hanging himself with a weight-machine. Benoit is only the latest in a long line of professional wrestling stars to die suddenly in the past decade- Sensational Sheri, The Big Boss Man, Curt “Mr. Perfect” Hennig, Davey Boy Smith and Flying Brian Pillman have all died before their 50th birthdays. Most recently, it was Eddie Guerrero, one of Benoit’s best friends, who died in 2005 from heart failure linked to long-term steroid use.
