I try to talk to as many people as possible about race but they just think I am a freak. Asians, Latinos, African-Amercans and whites for the most part blow me off. The only people that listen are poor people. I can always motivate a poor white person or a poor Latino or African-American to give their opinion. I’m not gonna front Asians too. My best conversation recently was with a 61 year old shuttle driver who was Asian. He was born in a California internment camp during WW2. By the way so was George Takei (Sulu from Star Trek) and Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita).
Remember in the movie when Sandra Bullock was trippin, but she did not know why? She was rich, white, pretty and confused. Remember the Ludacris character, he knew exactly why he was fu*ked up. That Don Cheadle guy was sort of caught in the middle.
The Terrance Howard character on the other hand had it all but at the end of the day was humiliated by the cops and his wife. She (Thandie Newton) thinks he is a pussy and disses his male ego which is large and fragile, duh he’s a Hollywood director.
This propels him towards a suicide attempt. Remember in the movie Terrance Howard aggressively moves toward armed cop Ryan Phillippe. Any fool will tell you any black man in America who makes an aggressive move toward a cop has a very high chance of getting shot.
That moment in the film was the most dynamic for me. That moment for me convinced me to talk about race as much as I can. The last thing any person should feel is that life is not worth living.
