Forget “Entourage”: Dream on Part 2!

EntourageI think that the HBO show “Entourage,” is such a great portrayal of life here in Hollywood because it has tapped into two things – everyone wants to be famous and everyone wants to be around famous people. Fame is extraordinary but famous people do occasionally lead ordinary lives. It’s not uncommon to be at Starbucks and see Adam Sandler, or be pumping gas at a Chevron next to Paris Hilton. Hollywood is where the stars live. Literally, they all have homes here and have a life off the silver screen.

If you spend enough time at the Hollywood clubs you will see someone like Jamie Foxx dancing his ass off on the floor surrounded by a million women who want to be his for the night. The draw of fame is so high that celebrities like Jessica Alba, Keira Knightley and Natatlie Portman all seem to have a crowd the size of a Yellowcard concert(they’re the next generation of pop-punk and the spokesmen for Verizon’s new “V CAST” phone) around them full of people who just want to bask in their reflective glow.

I don’t know if I could live my life with so many people knowing who I was and thinking that they know all about me. Someone meets Halle Berry once and they think that they are best friends forever and tells everyone that they know Halle Berry. If you can’t get into the Academy Awards to receive your Oscar, then the next best thing is to befriend someone who can like, Phillip Seymour Hoffman.

Hurricane Katrina on ENG!

katrinaIt’s been a year now since Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast region. Are things getting anywhere close to normal? Well, as a friend of mine, a life-long New Orleanian now settled in Orlando, said to me recently, “It will be years before New Orleans is ready to accept us back.” The same can be said for Biloxi, Gulfport, and every other coastal city that was pummeled by Katrina’s force. Few people were prepared for the aftermath of a Category Four Storm.
So the big question is, now that we’re entering into the next Hurricane Season, what have we learned from the debacle that was Katrina? Are we as citizens more prepared for that inevitable time when disaster strikes? Is our government more willing (or able) to aid Americans in need when the next storm comes bearing down upon our shores? Recently tomorrowpictures.TV sat down with the political action group Radical Women as they debated the fallout from Hurricane Katrina.
